Stas Falkov, born in 1987 in Tyumen, Siberia, turned to art as a means of coping with emotional struggles during the COVID-19 isolation period.

His painting reflects an exploration of personal relationships with the boundary of semiotics, where tangible forms signify the limit of individual thought. While tangible and comprehensible within the mechanisms of cognition, this expression faces the necessity of translation into the language of broader culture, which may seem unfamiliar, chaotic, and perilous. Hence, Falkov embraces automatic writing, allowing for the free translation of thought into an experimental image that constantly blurs the line between the figurative and the abstract. These images are imbued with inner ideas and emotions, enriched by artistic interpretations of various experiences.

Conveying a holistic image is akin to an endless endeavor, resembling the myth of Sisyphus. Thus, Falkov diligently absorbs the sign systems of the external world, viewing painting as an ongoing process rather than a finite creation. This approach offers a therapeutic means of assimilating troubled thoughts and experiences.

Falkov S.N. presently resides and works in Paris, France, where he oversees curation of Faux gallery.
